Sangrand is the first day of the Punjabi month. Many seekers believe that by listening to the Gurbani of Barah Maha on
Sangrand day their whole month will be peaceful. Listening to Gurbani on any day is a pious deed but it is to be
understood and acted upon. Guru Sahib wanted to take every opportunity to spread the true message among
the people. Guru Sahib spells out the aim of human life, which is the reunion of the soul with Supreme Soul
from which it has been separated, to attain salvation. In messages for 1 to 11 months Guru Sahib expresses the
pain of separation and longs for union with Him like a bride wanted to meet her Master. In 12th month with the
help of Guru, by shedding ego, Supreme Being is met within.
